Welcome to the offical site of Roane County Emergency Squad, Inc. RCES is the sole provider of EMS to Roane County, West Virginia. Our service area covers approximately 486 sq miles and serves an estimated 15,000 - 20,000 citizens.
Mission Statement
The mission of Roane County Emergency Squad is to provide twenty-four hour emergency medical services to Roane County. RCES strives to provide timely, professional, and non-biased response for the citizens of Roane County.

Roane County Emergency Squad Inc. was first formed in 1980 by a group of concerned citizens. Until that time, all emergency services calls were handled by the local funeral homes.
RCES Inc. began as a completely volunteer organization with one ambulance and one station. Through the years our squad has grown and as our call volume increased, we transitioned from a mostly volunteer group of citizens to a group of highly trained EMS professionals.
We currently operate three stations and have a fleet of six trucks. Our main station is Station 700 in downtown Spencer. Station 700 2nd call is located at Roane General Hospital in the Emergency Department and Station 710 is located in Newton and covers the southern end of the county.
